What to know before ordering.

Review the product details, selected option, and project requirements before adding it to your cart.

Osmo Polyx-Oil High Solid is a clear hardwax-oil finish for hardwood floors, stairs, furniture, cabinets and other interior wood. It brings out the natural grain while leaving a durable surface that's easy to clean, maintain and spot repair.

At a glance

  • Coverage: Approximately 258 sq ft per liter, per coat
  • Coats: 2 thin coats by brush or microfiber roller
  • Drying time: Approximately 8–10 hours per coat at 73°F and 50% relative humidity
  • Apply with: Osmo Floor Brush, Microfiber Roller or Bristle Brush
  • Sheens: 3031 Matte, 3043 Satin and 3011 Gloss
  • Use: Interior hardwood floors, stairs, furniture, cabinetry and woodwork
  • Full cure: Allow about 2–3 weeks before damp mopping or placing rugs and mats

Application methods

Start with clean, dry, properly sanded bare wood and stir the finish well. Actual coverage varies with the wood species, sanding, porosity and application tool.

Brush or microfiber roller: Recommended for floors, stairs, countertops, tabletops and other high-wear surfaces. Apply a thin, even coat in the direction of the grain and allow 8–10 hours to dry with good ventilation. Apply the second coat the same way, removing excess after 5–10 minutes.

White application pad: Work a thin coat into the wood in circular or figure-eight motions. Let it absorb for 5–10 minutes, then buff with a clean white pad until the surface is even and free of excess or swirl marks. Apply three to four thin coats with 8–10 hours between coats. Osmo does not recommend this method for high-wear surfaces.

Lint-free cloth: Rub a very thin coat into the wood in circular or figure-eight motions. Let it absorb for about 15 minutes, then wipe away all excess in the direction of the grain. Apply four to six thin coats with 8–10 hours between coats. This method is intended for furniture and smaller, lower-wear projects rather than flooring, stairs, countertops or cutting boards.

Cleaning and maintenance

Use Osmo Wash and Care for routine floor cleaning or Osmo Spray Cleaner on smaller surfaces. Liquid Wax Cleaner can help with scuffs and stubborn marks. When the surface looks dry or water no longer beads as it should, refresh high-traffic areas with Osmo Maintenance Oil or apply another compatible finish coat after proper cleaning.

Good to know

Test first on the actual wood. Species, sanding and existing color all affect the finished appearance. Oil-soaked cloths and pads can generate heat as they dry; follow the disposal directions on the container.
