Osmo Wood Protector 4006 is a clear, water-repellent base treatment for bare wood in damp settings. It is often used on pine and other woods susceptible to blue stain, as well as bathroom woodwork, window frames, flooring and outdoor play structures. This is a base coat and must be covered with a compatible Osmo finish.
At a glance
- Coverage: Approximately 65–90 sq ft per liter
- Coats: 1 penetrating base coat
- Topcoat: Required within one week
- Apply with: Flat Brush or Floor Brush; coat all sides when practical
- Use: Bare interior wood and selected exterior projects requiring a biocide-free, water-repellent impregnation
- Color: 4006 Clear
How to apply
Remove old paint and other sealed coatings so the product can enter the wood. The surface must be clean, dry and frost-free. Stir well and do not thin. Apply an even penetrating coat, working it into end grain, joints and other absorbent areas. Where practical, treat every side of the wood.
After the base treatment has dried, apply a compatible topcoat such as Polyx-Oil, Wood Wax Finish or Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin. Do not leave Wood Protector as the exposed final finish, and complete the topcoat within one week.
Good to know
This product improves physical moisture resistance but is not a substitute for fixing leaks, standing water or poor ventilation. It may deepen the natural color of the wood, so test first and treat complete sections rather than isolated patches.
