What to know before ordering.

Review the product details, selected option, and project requirements before adding it to your cart.

Osmo Decking Oil adds color and weather protection to exterior wood while keeping the grain visible. It works on both pressure-treated and untreated decking and can be renewed without stripping or sanding away an intact, compatible oil finish.

At a glance

  • Coverage: Approximately 258 sq ft per liter, per coat
  • Coats: Usually 2 thin coats; absorption varies by wood species and age
  • Drying time: Approximately 10–12 hours between coats
  • Application temperature: 41–95°F
  • Apply with: Osmo 150 mm Decking Brush; a white pad or microfiber applicator pad may also be used for thin buffed applications
  • Finish: Satin after the initial sheen settles
  • Important: 1277 Teak Clear does not provide UV protection

Application methods

The wood must be clean, dry and able to absorb oil. Remove old paint and other film-forming finishes. Osmo recommends sanding decking to P80–P100; finer sanding can reduce absorption and may make decking slippery. New or pressure-treated wood may need to weather before finishing.

Decking brush: Stir well and apply a thin, even coat with the grain. If possible, coat all sides of the boards before installation. Let the first coat dry for 10–12 hours with good ventilation, then apply the second coat the same way.

Application pad: Buff the oil into the wood in a thin, even layer using a non-abrasive white pad or microfiber applicator pad. Don't leave wet spots or a heavy surface film.

Very dry or weathered wood may absorb more than two coats. After a coat dries, place a small drop of oil in an inconspicuous area. If it soaks in, the wood may accept another thin coat; if it remains beaded, stop.

Maintenance

Clean the deck and reapply a thin coat when water no longer beads or the color looks tired. If the wood has already turned gray, use Wood Reviver Power Gel before recoating.

430 Clear Anti-Slip

Osmo Anti-Slip Decking Oil is a clear, satin topcoat for decking that has already been treated with a pigmented Osmo Decking Oil. Its fine additive improves slip resistance while adding another water- and dirt-resistant layer.

At a glance

  • Coverage: Approximately 258 sq ft per liter
  • Coats: 1 thin topcoat over Osmo Decking Oil
  • Drying time: Allow approximately 10–12 hours
  • Application temperature: 41°F or warmer
  • Apply with: Osmo 150 mm Decking Brush
  • Important: Not suitable as a stand-alone finish

How to apply

Begin with a fully dry coat of pigmented Osmo Decking Oil. Stir Anti-Slip Decking Oil thoroughly so the slip-resistant additive is evenly distributed. Brush on one thin, even coat in the direction of the grain, then allow it to dry with good ventilation. The fresh finish may initially look satin-glossy before settling to satin.

Maintenance

Recoat before high-traffic paths wear through or begin turning gray. If weathering has already grayed the wood, clean it with Wood Reviver Power Gel and restore the Decking Oil system before adding a new Anti-Slip topcoat.

Good to know

This clear topcoat has limited UV protection on its own. Its intended system is a colored Decking Oil base coat followed by one Anti-Slip coat. “Slip resistant” does not mean slip-proof; leaves, snow, ice, algae and standing water still need to be removed.
