Osmo UV-Protection Oil is an exterior finish for vertical wood such as siding, doors, windows, trim, screens and garden structures. It slows graying, repels moisture and can be renewed without stripping an intact oil finish.
At a glance
- Coverage: Approximately 194 sq ft per liter, per coat
- Coats: 2 thin coats
- Drying time: Approximately 10–12 hours between coats
- Application temperature: 41–95°F
- Apply with: Natural-bristle brush or microfiber roller
- Use: Vertical exterior wood; not a decking finish
- Options: Clear and tinted versions, with product-specific differences
How to apply
Work on clean, dry, frost-free wood. Where practical, coat all sides before installation. Stir well, then apply a thin, even coat in the direction of the grain with a natural-bristle brush or microfiber roller. Allow it to dry fully for 10–12 hours before applying the second thin coat.
Maintenance
Inspect exposed wood regularly and add a maintenance coat before the surface becomes gray or weathered. An intact Osmo oil finish generally does not need to be stripped first; clean it thoroughly and remove loose or failed material before recoating.
Good to know
Select the exact product number carefully. Clear 410 and the versions containing active exterior-protection ingredients are not interchangeable, and tinted colors can look different across wood species. Test on the actual wood before starting.
